The walled cities of the Highlands

THE BEAUTY OF THE HIGH LANDS: FORTIFIED CITIES, VILLAS AND SCULPTURES AMONG SMALL VILLAGES AND VILLAGES THAT CHARACTERIZE THE HIGH VICENTINO AND THE TREVIGIANO

Duration : 7 hours

Embellished wood hangs over the royal crown of the mighty queen who is focused on defending her king from chess, this is where our tour begins, with a free visit to Marostica, the City of Chess, so nicknamed thanks to the historical tradition that , every two years, there is a particular game of chess made up of living pawns.

On one side the Sacro Monte, on the other the River, we continue to discover the city of Bassano, characterized by its historic wooden bridge, the glitter of the Brenta river and the ancient artisan workshops of ceramics and paper. Bassano is the town where our next stop is located, Villa Angarano: at the court of the future nobility of the Empire. A visit to the villa, an immersive walk in the greenery that surrounds the structure and, to relax, a good wine tasting directly from the cellar of the estate await us .

We now head to the small village of Possagno, precisely in its precious plaster cast gallery, a place of enchanting amazement, made such by the eternity of the pure beauty of the statues on display, mostly signed Antonio Canova, one of the greatest sculptors in history, which was born here in the mid-1700s. The elegant village of Asolo seems imprinted in time, it is our last destination before returning. Let's enjoy a well-deserved free aperitif in the heart of the historic city center.
